About the Company

Founded in 2015, Jeju Beer is a craft beer manufacturer headquartered in Jeju Island. It partnered with Brooklyn Brewery, a representative craft beer brand in the United States, to receive technology and know-how transfer, and launched various beers such as 「Jeju Wit Ale」 and 「Jeju Pêlon Ale」. As the first craft beer company to enter the top 5 convenience stores and large supermarkets in Korea, it has recorded 2x sales growth every year. Highly evaluated for continuous sales growth and increased market share, six investors including Stonebridge Ventures made an additional investment of 14 billion won, achieving a cumulative investment of 60 billion won. Based on successful fundraising, Jeju Beer plans to expand its existing brewery into a brewery with the industry's largest production capacity, doubling production. In addition, with the help of this sales growth, the company is pursuing an IPO in 2021.

Amazon Web Services

Along with business growth and in accordance with the company's strategic direction, the decision was made to transition to SAP on AWS to strengthen business competitiveness and handle production efficiency, supply chain management, and various management requirements. AWS was chosen considering AWS's performance, scalability, global infrastructure, SAP-certified services, and customer-centric approach. With support from Megazone Cloud, an APN partner, the infrastructure was built in 2 months and SAP solution installation and stabilization were completed. Jeju Beer configured the most secure and universally used AWS services for SAP solution performance and stability. Using AWS services such as next-generation Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) memory-optimized R4 instances, Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), AWS Virtual Private Network (AWS VPN), and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), SAP requirements were met and optimal SAP user experience was considered. Additionally, security was strengthened by setting different access permissions for each account and using AWS VPC's Security Group to open IPs only to authorized users.

Previously, Jeju Beer had a very high possibility of human error due to manual work processes, but with SAP on AWS, the company now has an environment where human errors do not occur. As a result, materials produced through SAP can be trusted and used as verified materials, and only employees with authority can view sensitive materials, and materials that can be accessed are classified according to security level. Team leader Ko Dae-hee said, 「Previously, I was busy processing work, but now after processing work, I can verify with ease or spend time on self-development, so not only work efficiency but also job satisfaction has increased.」 When operating infrastructure by purchasing equipment, there are many issues to consider such as equipment purchase, additional operating personnel, problems due to obsolete equipment, or equipment replacement. However, since AWS and verified APN partners manage everything from preparation to operation, efficient operation has become possible. Team leader Ko Dae-hee said, 「Thanks to AWS, I can focus on core business, which is very convenient, and even if problems arise while using it, I have confidence that AWS and Megazone will resolve them quickly and appropriately.
