Megazone Cloud held the 'Megazone–UT Quantum & Cloud Experience Day' event on October 31 at the Gwacheon Megazone Industry-Academia-Research Center, providing lectures on the basic principles of quantum computing and hands-on training where students could experience quantum computing simulations through computer coding.

The 'Take the World by the Horns' program is an international internship course where UT students visit major industries and technology sites in various countries and directly experience diverse global issues including society, technology, and health. UT students visited Megazone Cloud to deepen their understanding of cutting-edge technology industries.

In line with this purpose, Megazone Cloud prepared this program to provide global talent with opportunities to understand the basic principles of quantum computing and practice hands-on. The 15 participating UT students learned the core concepts of quantum computing through theoretical lectures and experiential training on quantum computing.

A researcher from Megazone Cloud's Quantum Innovation Laboratory explained key concepts of quantum mechanics in an easy-to-understand manner, including the difference between bits and qubits, wave-particle duality, quantum superposition, and the observer effect. Through conceptual explanations of coin tossing, students understood the principles of qubit superposition and observation effects, and also learned about technical elements such as the operation method of superconducting quantum computers and cooling systems.

In the practical session, using an emulator that allows quantum computation processes to be simulated on a regular computer, students recreated the 'entanglement' phenomenon where two qubits are connected and experienced how quantum computing operates.

Dr. Sonia Feigenbaum, Senior Vice President for International Affairs at UT, said, "Thanks to Megazone Cloud's leadership and support, students were able to directly experience cloud and quantum computing technologies," and added, "We hope that collaboration with Megazone Cloud, a global innovation company, will lead to educational and cultural experiences that provide students with new perspectives and inspiration."

Kim Dong-ho, Chief Quantum Officer (CQO) of Megazone Cloud, said, "We hope that the visiting students understood the principles and possibilities of quantum computing and gained a sense of the direction of next-generation technological innovation combined with AI and cloud," and emphasized, "As a leading AI company, Megazone Cloud will continue to expand cooperation with major universities and research institutions worldwide and contribute to nurturing talent to lead future technologies."
