About Us

Yonsei University was established in January 1957 by merging Yonhee University and Severance Medical School.
The university has a Shinchon Campus, which includes 17 graduate schools and 16 colleges (offering undergraduate degrees in 73 departments), with 28,000 enrolled students and 1,490 full-time faculty members.
The Wonju Campus consists of 4 graduate schools, 5 colleges (offering undergraduate degrees in 6 fields with 24 departments), and 1 independent department, with approximately 8,000 enrolled students and 320 full-time faculty members.
Yonsei University also has affiliated institutions such as libraries, dormitories, language research and education institutes, lifelong education institutes, museums, and research institutes such as the Korean Studies Institute, East-West Research Institute, Genomic Function Control Research Group, Biometrics Research Center, and Medical Legal Ethics Research Center.

Challenge

  • The current server and backup system are outdated and need to be replaced.
  • With the educational environment moving towards an intelligent information society, there is a growing demand from the computer department, professors, and students for various digital resources.
  • There have been complaints from students regarding course registration, and improvements are being considered in various areas such as academic affairs, administration, and the homepage, including a review of cloud migration.

Our Role

  • Minimizing maintenance cost by applying Auto Scaling through AWS’s EC2 and S3 service
  • Conducting CAF workshop to identify agreement point, incorporating the demand from employees in Business

Outcomes

Changes in Awareness of Employees at Computer Department and Smooth Migration Process

  • Migration was conducted to CMS web service and the interest and understanding of AWS by employees at computer department increased through CAF workshop
  • Fast learning on AWS by arranging training and practice in parallel
  • Smooth migration to AWS by discussing and agreeing on requirements from employees during workshop period
