About the Company
Able C&C is making company-wide efforts to become a company that fulfills sustainable development and social responsibility with ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) standards at the highest level amid rapidly changing business environments. We present new style standards through diverse product lines including foundations, color cosmetics, body care, and hair care with quality without price premiums, and prioritize beautifying the lives of our customers and ourselves.
Additionally, through a global distribution network, we currently operate approximately 50,000 sales outlets in 38 countries including the United States, China, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and have been listed for 10 consecutive years in the global beauty and fashion journal 'WWD (Women's Wear Daily)' which announces the world's top 100 cosmetics companies annually, establishing ourselves as a major player in the global beauty market.
The Challenge
Able C&C faced difficulties in conducting multiple events including Black Friday around November each year. Traffic occurred beyond the anticipated demand, causing load on instances and RDS, instance CPU occupancy issues, and a stable response method was needed. In particular, ahead of the big event 'Negotiation King' in September 2023, there was much deliberation on how to successfully complete the event when it was unclear how many users would enter.
Amazon Web Services
Support for anticipated demand work
ELB-Prewarming
EC2, RDS Scale Out
Stage environment configuration for stress testing (support for replicating PROD resources such as EC2, S3, RDS)
Partial RDS performance improvement support (guidance on identifying problematic queries and proposing improvement methods)
Event monitoring, real-time response, and analysis support to ensure stable event progress
The Benefits
In preparation for the big event 'Negotiation King', we optimized and scaled out resources such as EC2, RDS, and Redis, and waited for the opening. At the time of opening, the number of real-time concurrent users reached tens of thousands, but we were able to process requests without waiting or delays. The chronic RDS CPU occupancy issue that caused WAS processing delays was resolved, allowing users to enjoy Negotiation King shopping smoothly and receiving praise from beauty communities. There were no performance issues in major logic such as Able Shop's home, login, membership registration, and shopping cart, and we were able to successfully conclude the event with 'record-breaking sales increase' and 'membership registration'.
Additionally, for events such as brand days and Black Friday held every November, we flexibly conduct scale-out/in operations, and through fast communication with Megazone Cloud and regular monitoring, we can manage incidents quickly with support. By being able to respond one step faster before users notice, we can recover and respond quickly, reducing user confusion and complaints.
Customer Feedback
By adopting a cloud environment through Megazone Cloud, Able Shop operates with 99.999% availability in infrastructure. In particular, the Negotiation King event held at our own mall was an exceptionally difficult and uncertain big event. In the case of competitors, they could not proceed with the Negotiation King event due to customer complaints such as 「our mall's website definitely goes down」 and 「I can't buy even if I want to」, so it was an event we were worried about. However, through solid support and consulting, we were able to successfully conclude the event, which I believe contributed to enhancing the brand value of Able C&C.
